Causes and Campaigns

Textbooks and Writing Utensils
The Buwagogo Hills of Hope School currently has one textbook for every twenty students, not enough pens so each child can have one, and notebooks made of old newspapers. At BCP, we want to provide these children with the resources they need to succeed.

School Fees Fund

In the past year, over one hundred of Buwagogo’s children have had to drop out of school at ages as young as four years old, because they cannot afford school fees. Education is the key to financial freedom and without it, this community will continue to financially struggle.

Desks

At the Buwagogo Hills of Hope School, there are a total of 20 desks distributed amongst over 100 students. This school also serves as a hub for the Yetanah Women’s Group to learn income-generating activites. We hope to provide the school with enough desks for each student to enhance their learning experience.

Emergency Fund

In the Buwagogo Community, if a child or community member falls sick, given the lack of local medical infrastructure, they will likely die. To save the lives of community members, we are raising a fund for medical emergencies

Finish building the school
The Buwagogo Hills of Hope School acts as a hub for educating in income-generating activities, sexual education, family planning, and educating children. However, the school’s floors, doors, and windows are unfinished. When in a classroom environment, children are easily distracted by the outdoor environment, and the current dirt floors in the school are unsanitary. With the current floors, students often fall sick because of the dirt and dust, and they stop attending school as a result. Doors and windows are required to prevent distractions for students and to prevent nighttime vandalism of the school’s premises.

1000 KG of seedlings

As part of BCP’s Community Development efforts, one of BCP’s goal is to purchase 1000 kilograms of seedlings to distribute to impoverished community members in order for them to plant crops for sustenance as well as to sell annually to generate income for themselves and their families. Distributing seedlings to aid families yield crops is a sustainable way to generate income in this community. The money that they earn from these crop yields will help these families to afford school fees for their children and to ensure that their families are nourished and can afford access to medical care as well as clean drinking water.

School Uniforms, Rain jackets, and Backpacks

Students at the Buwagogo Hills of Hope School come to school in the same clothes every day for weeks. During the wet season, they do not have a change of clothes, do not have raincoats, and thus do not come to school out of fear of getting sick. Their notebooks are not protected due to a lack of backpacks, so the rain destroys their already limited resources. When these children fall sick, they have few options for treatment due to financial stress, so they avoid going to school lacking proper rain jackets.
